Alpine District “Child Find”

Alpine School District is responsible for Child Find identification and evaluation for all students (ages birth to 21 years of age) who reside within Alpine School District boundaries, are suspected of having a disability, and are in need of an evaluation for possible special education or early intervention services. This includes children who attend public or private schools, those being home schooled, and children ages birth through five who attend public or private preschool/daycare programs or are at home.

If your child is having significant difficulty with communication, behavior, academic learning, or fine/gross motor skills, or experiencing delayed development for his/her age, he/she may be a child with a disability that requires specialized instruction through special education. If you suspect that your school-age child may have a disability, even though he or she is advancing from grade to grade, please contact your neighborhood school principal or Alpine School District’s special education department at 801-610-8410. If your child’s age is birth to five years, contact the Early Childhood Assessment Center at 801-610-8857. If you suspect a child that you know may have a disability that requires specialized instruction through special education, please share this information with the child’s guardian.
