The Senior Class of 2019 would like to present the upcoming events and the costs associated with them. Please remember that in order to participate in these activities, you must be a 2019 Westlake graduate AND cleared to walk at graduation. Graduation is on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at 9:00am however, the processional will start at 8:30am. It is being held at the Marriott Center at Brigham Young University in Provo. Graduates who still need to purchase a cap & gown can do so at jostens.com.

May 1, 2019 - Graduation Clearance Begins
The clearance for seniors to graduate begins. If you are NOT on track, you will want to get this resolved immediately as it becomes more difficult the longer you wait. Students will work with their counselor to resolve any issues. The last day to be cleared for graduation is May 21, 2019 at 2:30pm.
May 20, 2019 - Senior Field Day
The senior field day includes the traditional painting of the “W”. It will begin at 1:15pm. We will also start a new tradition following the painting of the “W”, seniors will have a huge water fight! Bring squirt guns, towels, and clothes that can get wet. There is no cost for this event.
May 21, 2019 - Senior Package Order Deadline
May 21st is the last day to order the senior package which includes, Lagoon, All-Night Grad Party, and Dinner Dance.
May 21, 2019 - Senior Evening of Excellence
This evening is to honor and recognize seniors for their outstanding academic performance, scholarships, attendance, etc. It will be held in the auditorium at 7:00 pm. If you have received a scholarship or award this year, please submit the information HERE–even if you did not accept the scholarship. We want all offerings you have received. Best dress is required.
May 22, 2019 - Senior Lagoon Day
Seniors will be going to Lagoon. Buses are scheduled to leave WHS at 8am and return around 6pm. No private vehicles will be allowed in the park. Students must ride the buses to and from Lagoon. Students will be responsible to bring their own money for lunch. Tickets are presale only and must be purchased from the finance office by May 21st. No exceptions or refunds will be granted. There are a limited number of tickets and seats on the buses, so don’t wait to buy your ticket! Students must be cleared for graduation in order to attend Lagoon day!! The cost of this event is $53.
May 23, 2019 - Graduation Practice--Mandatory
Seniors MUST report to the main gym for graduation practice at 8am on May 23rd. Seniors will not be going to BYU for practice and will need to be cleared for graduation by this time so they can attend practice. It is extremely important for you to understand what will happen at graduation.
May 23, 2019 - Senior Project Group Picture
The senior gift this year is a giant inflatable tunnel. Immediately after graduation practice, all seniors will assemble with the senior gift (large inflatable tunnel and Thor) for a group picture. The location of the picture is TBD and will be announced at the grad practice.
May 23, 2019 - Cap & Gown Distribution
Cap & gowns will be distributed from 11am – 1pm in the main gym. This will follow the graduation practice and group picture. In order to receive your cap and gown, all fees must be paid and all grades and NC’s must be cleared. Yearbooks will be handed out immediately following distribution to those who have purchased a yearbook.
May 23, 2019 - Yearbook Stomp and Signing Party
The yearbook stomp and signing party will be held in the commons area from 8-10pm.
May 24, 2019 - Senior Dinner Dance
The Senior Dinner Dance will be held at the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium. The time is from 6-10pm. Seniors will be allowed to walk around the aquarium prior to dinner. Dinner will be served at 6:30pm. This is not a date dance but is semi-formal and is for WHS seniors only. The evening will include an amazing dinner, followed by a night of awards, dancing and fun. Tickets to this event must be purchased by May 21st. No exceptions or refunds will be granted. Tickets will NOT be sold at the door. Dinner will be a buffet style, and seniors will be able to choose what they want to eat. Cost of this event is $35.
May 28, 2019 - Thunder Awards
Thunder Awards will be held in the auditorium from 7-9pm.
May 29, 2019 - Graduation
Graduates MUST be at the Marriott Center at BYU by 7:30am. Graduation is scheduled to start at 9am however, we are beginning the processional at 8:30am. Do not be late–we will not wait for you to start! We stress the importance of this day and the kind of behavior that belongs at this event. Semi-formal dress is required i.e. shirt/tie, dress shoes, dresses/skirts.
May 29 & 30, 2019 - All Night Grad Party
Check-in for the All Night Grad Party begins at 9:15pm. Buses will leave Westlake at 9:30pm. Seniors will travel by bus to All Star Bowling Lanes in West Jordan. Activities include bowling, laser tag, laser frenzy, bumper cars, arcade games and more. There will be an all-you-can eat pizza buffet for two hours and unlimited drinks throughout the night. Buses will return to Westlake at approximately 3:30am on Thursday, May 30th. You must ride the bus to and from the grad party. The cost of this event is $40.
