Students who wish to participate in a SPRING sport at Westlake High School (baseball, golf (W), lacrosse (M/W), soccer (M), softball, tennis (M), track and field), must complete the registration process on Register My Athlete prior to tryouts.

If you have previously created an account at Westlake, please select the sport you want to participate in and make sure “2020-2021” is selected to continue with your registration.


To be academically eligible, students need to have a GPA of 2.0 or higher with no more than one F during the quarter prior to tryouts and during the sport-specific season. Coaches may also require that student athletes in their program maintain additional specific academic and/or attendance requirements throughout the season.

Students must be enrolled in at least SIX credit earning classes at Westlake to be eligible to compete in UHSAA extracurricular activities.


All students MUST have health insurance to participate in any athletic program. If your athlete is not currently insured, the District partners with a company to offer low cost insurance for your student. Students need ALL THREE FORMS (consent, history, physical) found here: UHSAA Physical Form All three forms must be scanned and uploaded together. We cannot accept photographs of your forms. They must be SCANNED.  YOU MUST USE THE UHSAA PHYSICAL FORM.

NOTE: Sticks and goggles will be available to rent if athletes need them. This is an open tryout--Attendance at open gyms is not a requirement.
PRACTICE: Daily beginning March 1st from 3:30-5:30pm

FOR: 9th - 12th grade students
BRING: Glove, bat, batting gloves, cleats, baseball or workout pants, sweastshirt or jacket (if it's cold). Dress according to weather.

TRYOUTS: 3/1--Check in begins 12 noon in the WHS stadium--Tryouts go from 12:30-2pm. Focus is determining the varsity pool.
3/2--Check in begins 2:15pm in the WHS stadium--tryouts go from 2:30 -4pm. Focus is making the varsity selection/ JV pool identification.
3/3--Tryout Time TBD (around 1 pm) in the WHS stadium. Focus is the JV team selection/ sophomore team selection. Announcement of the three TEAMS!

Lacrosse (Men’s)

TRYOUTS: March 1st & 2nd--6-8pm on the turf field. Arrive 30 minutes early.
INSTRUCTIONS: Athlete must be cleared on RMA, dress appropriate for weather, and bring water bottle.
EQUIPMENT: Helmet, gloves, shoulder pads, cleats, mouth guard & elbow pads. Items can be rented for a minimal fee. Extra sticks will be on hand for those that need one.
